HUD Grants
The importance of HUD grants.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development also known as HUD, is a Federal agency in charge of agencies and national programs that deal with American housing needs, that help develop and strengthen the Nation's communities, and enforce fair housing laws.
The Office of Departmental Grants Management and Oversight or ODGMO, is accountable for strengthening internal controls and enhancing management veracity and truthfulness within HUD's programs. ODGMO is also responsible for improving management efficiencies by reorganizing grant processes and procedures not only within HUD but across all Federal programs including the other 26 Federal grant-making agencies.
ODGMO's task is to offer oversight and policy responsibility for all of HUD's grants programs. ODGMO ensures that HUD program offices are entirely aware of and observe federal statutes, regulations (including OMB Circulars), and Executive Orders that govern the management of grant programs along with establishing processes to make certain the timely commitment of funds and reporting on outcomes achieved. Finally ODGMO is responsible for fulfilling the requirements of public laws aimed at streamlining Federal grants across the agencies.
The goals of the ODGMO are to implement Public Law 106-107, continue grant program improvement, streamline grant submissions and reporting requirements, create a central point of contact, provide grant management training, improve quality of grant-related documentation, manage SuperNOFA process, and lead A-11 grant reform efforts.

HUD grants can contrast. In recent years HUD grant totals reached over $40 million, which was used to aid young people with disabilities to get affordable housing. The rental assistance HUD grants will be used as vouchers to help disabled young people pay no more than 30% of their income to rent with HUD paying the remaining amount.
HUD grants were recently used to investigate housing discrimination against the elderly and support affordable housing. HUD grants are also devoted and used to help citizens living in public housing join the work force. There are many programs such as various workshops, job trainings and college preparatory classes that aid the growth of citizens in need. This enables the families and seniors in public housing to become self-sufficient.
